Yellow Lines on my Left

Being alone on the road on a motorcycle is more than a wonderful experience. It can be a very revealing one, too. Being out there for thousands and thousands of miles, through unknown roads and never-heard-of little towns, makes you realize how much there is to explore in this small world of ours, turned even smaller by technology and an overload of information.

We feel tempted to declare the world a familiar territory, seeing it through our omnipresent TV sets. Sometimes it seems unnecessary to go out and truly travel, it feels unsafe to leave our comfort zone and venture into the unknown. With this mindset, we seldom realize how much we are missing, and how little we actually know about different places, different people, different cultures. How little do we know about ourselves.

I embrace the road and I find hope in whoever and whatever I meet along the way. They serve as reminders to never stop being curious and to always look for the next road...
